Moroccan Professor Wins Silver Medal at Silicon Valley International Invention Festival 2025

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Professor Hassan Ammor, Director of the Technology Innovation Center at the Mohammedia School of Engineers, University Mohammed V in Rabat, has been awarded the silver medal at the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival (SVIIF 2025), held from August 8 to 10 in Santa Clara, California.

Invited by the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) and OFEED Morocco, Professor Ammor became the first Arab and African researcher to receive such recognition at this prestigious global innovation event.

His award-winning project, developed in collaboration with Dr. Radouane Karli, is titled “A New Smart Microwave Imaging Scanner for Breast Cancer Detection.” The lightweight, compact, and non-invasive device offers a more accessible and effective tool for early diagnosis of breast cancer, one of the leading causes of mortality among women worldwide.

Speaking to local media, Professor Ammor described the recognition as a great honor for his team, his university, and his country. He emphasized that the achievement demonstrates Morocco’s ability to compete with the world’s leading nations in the field of innovation.

Launched in 2017, the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival has become one of the world’s foremost platforms for innovation and creativity. Organized annually by IFIA in Santa Clara with support from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the United Inventors Association (UIA), the event attracts inventors, startups, universities, and companies from more than 30 countries.

The festival provides a global stage for showcasing groundbreaking inventions, fostering exchanges of ideas, and building connections with investors and industry leaders. For innovators, SVIIF serves as both a showcase of creativity and a gateway to international markets, collaborations, and commercial opportunities.
