Morocco and Spain Strengthen Judicial Cooperation for 2030 FIFA World Cup

Morocco and Spain

Madrid, The Gulf Observer: Morocco and Spain have signed a joint declaration of intent to enhance judicial cooperation in preparation for the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The agreement was formalized on Tuesday in Madrid by Moroccan Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi and his Spanish counterpart, Félix Bolaños García, during Ouahbi’s official visit.

The declaration focuses on strengthening judicial collaboration, particularly in combating cross-border organized crime through enhanced information sharing and experience exchange. According to a statement from the Moroccan Ministry of Justice, both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to fostering friendly relations and deepening legal cooperation, building on several existing international agreements.

The initiative aims to adapt judicial mechanisms to meet the requirements of the World Cup, including the exchange of best practices and the consolidation of joint commissions. These efforts align with discussions that began in Madrid in April 2024 and emphasize the importance of civil and penal judicial assistance conventions.

Additionally, the agreement prioritizes judicial system modernization, with plans to accelerate digital transformation, improve access to justice, promote alternative dispute resolution, and enhance cross-border case management. This collaboration reflects the broader commitment of Morocco and Spain to ensuring security and efficiency in legal frameworks as they prepare to co-host the prestigious global sporting event.
