Morocco Launches Video Game Incubator to Propel Startup Ecosystem

Video Game Incubator

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Morocco has officially launched a groundbreaking initiative to support startups in the gaming industry with the inauguration of the “Video Game Incubator” program in Rabat. This strategic initiative, which commenced on Monday, aims to nurture nine startup ventures within the sector, positioning Morocco as a significant player in the global gaming market.

The launch event was attended by Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Morocco’s Minister of Youth, alongside a French Embassy delegation and key industry stakeholders. The program seeks to strengthen Moroccan entrepreneurship, enhance skill development, and ensure long-term business viability while fostering stronger ties between Moroccan game developers and leading global companies.

Comprehensive Training and International Collaboration

The incubator program, spanning five months, offers comprehensive training on crucial topics, including video game pre-production, brand and communication strategy, business management, production oversight, and financial planning. Participants will also gain valuable insights from international gaming champions and access potential partners and investors.

Minister Bensaid emphasized that the incubator is part of a broader initiative following the Morocco-France cultural and creative industries agreement signed last October, under the support of King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron. He expressed his ambition for Moroccan startups to emerge as global leaders in the video game sector.

Agnès Humruzian, Cultural Cooperation Advisor at the French Embassy, highlighted the incubator as a key milestone in Franco-Moroccan cultural cooperation. She underscored the potential of the gaming industry to create employment opportunities for youth, paving the way for deeper bilateral cooperation.

Strengthening Global Competitiveness

Julien Villedieu, founder of Level Link Partners (LLP), noted that the “Video Game Incubator” was established by industry professionals to enable local startups to compete on a global scale. He described it as a critical step toward building a structured and competitive video game market in Morocco.

With this ambitious program, Morocco is poised to expand its gaming ecosystem and position itself as a serious contender in the booming global gaming market.
