Morocco Retains 12th Place in FIFA World Rankings, Remains Top African Team

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: The Moroccan national football team has maintained its position as the 12th best team in the world, according to the latest FIFA World Ranking released on Thursday, reaffirming its status as a continental and global powerhouse.

With 1,698.72 points, Morocco remains Africa’s top-ranked national team, followed by Senegal in second place on the continent (18th globally) and Egypt in third (34th globally).

The Atlas Lions solidified their global standing with recent victories in international friendlies, defeating Tunisia 2-0 and Benin 1-0. These results played a key role in preserving their high position in the FIFA rankings.

On the global stage, Argentina continues to lead as the world’s top national team, followed by Spain, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Croatia, rounding out the top ten.

Under the stewardship of head coach Walid Regragui, Morocco has emerged as one of the most respected teams in international football. The team captured global attention during its historic semifinal run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, becoming the first African and Arab nation to reach that stage of the tournament.
