Myanmar Marks International Youth Day 2025 in Nay Pyi Taw

Yangon, The Gulf Observer: A ceremony commemorating International Youth Day 2025 was held yesterday at Hotel Max in Nay Pyi Taw, bringing together government officials, youth representatives, and development partners under the global theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.”
The event was attended by Union Ministers Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Dr Chaw Chaw Sein, Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, and Dr Soe Win, along with Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, deputy ministers, departmental officials, award recipients, and youth delegates from across Myanmar’s regions and states. Participants included representatives of youths with disabilities, maritime and aviation youth, Red Cross and Scout members, students from higher education institutions, and officials from youth development organizations.
In his opening remarks, Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung — who also chairs the Myanmar Youth Affairs Central Committee — highlighted the importance of empowering youth as indispensable partners in turning the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into community-driven achievements. He emphasized that the nation’s future rests on the capabilities, moral integrity, patriotism, and accountability of today’s youth, and called for systematic nurturing to ensure their all-round development.
Deputy Minister U Zin Min Htet, Chairman of the Myanmar Youth Affairs Working Committee, read the International Youth Day message from UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of cash prizes and certificates to outstanding youth, essay competition winners, and participants in a youth talk show. Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo contributed cash donations to support International Youth Day 2025 and the Youth’s Dialogue programme.
Attendees viewed a documentary highlighting national youth development initiatives, while the talk show explored topics including Cultural Heritage and Youth, Environmental Challenges and Technology, and From Quality Education to Successful Economic Pathways.
