Nahyan bin Zayed honours winners of Emirates Licensed Weapon Shooting Competition
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, witnessed today at the Al Forsan International Sports Resort a ceremony for honoring the winners of the Emirates Licensed Weapon Shooting Competition, organised by the Weapons and Hazardous Substances Office, for the first time in at the country level.
The tournament was held in six shooting clubs distributed nationwide, with participants from the 12-20 age group using their parents’ licensed weapons. The number of participants in all competitions reached 1,185 contestants, of whom 800 qualified for the finals, and 120 of them won in the top twenty places in each competition separately. A total of 48 females participated in the tournament.
The awards ceremony was attended by Mattar Salem Al Dhaheri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Defence; Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Interior; Staff Major General Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Abu Dhabi Police Commander-in-Chief; Mohamed Suhail Al Neyadi, Director-General of the Weapons and Hazardous Substances Office, and Chairman of the organising committee; and a number of leaders and officials at the federal and local departments.
