Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The nation is celebrating its 79th Independence Day today with a renewed pledge to uphold the spirit of the Pakistan Movement and to strive for making the country a true Islamic welfare state.

The day began with a 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and a 21-gun salute at provincial headquarters. Special prayers were offered in mosques across the country for peace, solidarity, and prosperity.

The main flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, where Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif unfurled the national flag.

This year’s celebrations carry heightened national fervour, following Pakistan’s recent victory in the Marka-e-Haq against India’s unprovoked aggression.

Public enthusiasm is evident as buildings have been adorned with national flags, buntings, and decorative lights, while citizens have displayed flags on their vehicles and rooftops.
