National Museum for Modern Chinese Scientists to Open on May 30

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: The National Museum for Modern Chinese Scientists is set to officially open to the public on May 30, featuring inaugural exhibitions that honor prestigious Chinese veteran scientists. This event coincides with China’s 8th annual National Science and Technology Workers Day, according to the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST).
Located in the National Communication Center for Science and Technology in north Beijing, the museum’s inaugural exhibitions span a total area of 5,000 square meters. These include one main exhibition and five themed exhibitions, designed to celebrate the contributions of China’s scientific community.
The main exhibition showcases over 400 physical objects and more than 400 rare images of over 190 scientists, along with more than 10 large exhibits provided by various research institutions. These exhibits highlight the extensive contributions and achievements of Chinese scientists in various fields.
According to CAST, the National Museum for Modern Chinese Scientists is the world’s first museum dedicated to the scientific community in the name of a nation. Since 2009, CAST has been collecting data on the academic growth of senior Chinese scientists. Over the past 15 years, the project has amassed materials on 674 Chinese scientists, including letters, manuscripts, scientific instruments, works, audio and video recordings, and other related artifacts. This collection is now the largest repository of valuable historical materials on Chinese scientists and serves as the main source for the museum’s exhibitions.
Starting from the afternoon of May 30, the public can make reservations online to visit the exhibitions free of charge, offering an opportunity for visitors to explore the rich scientific heritage of China.
The opening of the National Museum for Modern Chinese Scientists marks a significant milestone in celebrating and preserving the legacy of China’s scientific community, reflecting the nation’s dedication to honoring its scientific achievements and promoting the importance of science and technology.
