Official Holiday Declared in Oman on Occasion of Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday (PBUH)

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: On the occasion of the anniversary of Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday (PBUH), the Sultanate of Oman has declared Sunday, 7 September 2025 (14 Rabi’ Al Awwal 1447 AH), as an official holiday. The decision applies to employees of units of the State’s Administrative Apparatus, as well as to staff of legal entities and establishments in the private sector.

The Ministry of Labour announced that employers may require employees to work on the designated holiday if necessary, on the condition that workers are duly compensated in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

This annual holiday reflects Oman’s commitment to honoring religious and cultural traditions while ensuring the rights and entitlements of employees across both public and private sectors.
