Oman Advocates for the Establishment of a Palestinian National Consensus Government
Moscow, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman has extended its warm welcome to the recent meeting of Palestinian factions held in Moscow on Thursday and Friday. The meeting, attended by all national forces and factions, garnered the attention and appreciation of the Omani Foreign Ministry.
In an official statement released on Saturday, the Foreign Ministry highlighted the significance of the Moscow meeting and expressed its satisfaction with the issued statement. Oman emphasized the importance of capitalizing on the positive outcomes of the gathering to establish a Palestinian national consensus government. Such a government, according to Oman, should ensure comprehensive representation of all Palestinian factions, aligning with the aspirations of the Palestinian people during this critical historic stage.
Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), also welcomed the statement from the Palestinian factions in Moscow. Al Budaiwi commended the positive results, noting their potential to foster unified political action. He affirmed the Palestinian factions’ desire to consolidate their ranks and establish a government that encompasses all segments of the Palestinian people, addressing their collective aspirations amid the region’s challenging circumstances.
Highlighting the unwavering support of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries for all efforts that advance the Palestinian cause and uphold the national rights of the Palestinian people, Al Budaiwi stressed the significance of achieving solutions that serve these vital interests.
Simultaneously, the Omani Foreign Ministry condemned a recent brutal attack carried out by Israeli occupation forces in northern Gaza. The attack targeted unarmed Palestinian citizens waiting to receive food supplies, resulting in the tragic loss of dozens of lives and numerous injuries. Oman strongly denounced these systematic criminal acts, describing them as a blatant violation of international and humanitarian norms and laws.
The Foreign Ministry underscored that such actions represent a continuation of the Israeli forces’ policy of extermination towards the Palestinian people. Oman, in response, called upon the international community to urgently intervene, bringing an end to the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, Oman urged the international community to hold the occupying state accountable for its targeting of civilians, emphasizing the need for justice and the preservation of human rights in the region.
