Oman and Russia Hold Political Talks in Moscow

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation conducted a session of political talks in Moscow yesterday, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and discussing mutual participation in international events. This session notably included Oman’s recent role as a main guest at the St. Petersburg International Forum.

The Omani delegation was led by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, while the Russian side was headed by Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Special Representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East and Africa.

The talks covered a range of regional and international issues, including the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip and the war in Ukraine. Both sides exchanged views and insights on these critical matters, underscoring their importance on the global stage.

In addition to the main session, Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy met with Alexander Yakovenko, Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Their discussions focused on enhancing mutual cooperation in diplomatic training and qualification, highlighting the commitment of both nations to fostering skilled diplomatic personnel.

The meeting was attended by Munthir Mahfoudh Al Manthiri, Head of the Europe Department at the Foreign Ministry, Hamoud Salim Al Tuwaih, Ambassador of Oman to Russia, and several other officials from both sides, reflecting the depth and breadth of the bilateral engagement.

These talks mark a significant step in the ongoing cooperation between Oman and Russia, reinforcing their diplomatic and strategic ties amid a complex international landscape.
