Oman Elevates Space Endeavors: Hosts Middle East Space Conference from Tomorrow

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman, under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, is poised to host a three-day regional space conference in collaboration with Euroconsult from tomorrow.

The Middle East Space Conference aims to delve into investment opportunities within the space sector, positioning the Middle East as a pivotal area for space applications and technologies.

Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, the ministry is actively fostering the space sector as a catalyst for economic diversification. Recognized as a critical focus by the National Programme for the Digital Economy, the space sector is guided by the MTCIT’s National Centre for Space, Advanced Technology, and Artificial Intelligence.

Over the next decade, the focus will be on ground applications, activities, and attracting investments in space-related ventures. Oman’s distinctive capabilities make it an ideal candidate for such developments. H E Dr Ali bin Amer al Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology in MTCIT, emphasized the conference’s significance, aligning with the Omani space sector policy launched in January 2023.

The event aims to position Oman as the regional hub for space applications supporting economic diversification, featuring leaders from global space agencies, companies, and experts in various space-related disciplines, with nearly 400 participants expected from worldwide government and private sectors.

Key objectives include stimulating international investment, localizing technological advancements, and fostering essential space services for the region, addressing the transformative impact of the fourth industrial revolution.
