Oman Expresses Regret Over UN Security Council’s Failure to Pass Gaza Ceasefire Resolution

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman has officially voiced its condemnation and regret over the failure of the United Nations Security Council to issue a ceasefire resolution for the Gaza Strip. In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry, Oman expressed deep concern about the repeated use of the veto, preventing the adoption of a resolution to halt hostilities in the region.
The Foreign Ministry’s statement reads, “The Ministry of Foreign expresses the Sultanate of Oman’s regret and denunciation of the failure of the United Nations Security Council to issue a ceasefire resolution in the Gaza Strip, as a result of the repeated use of the veto.”
Oman continues to advocate for the international community’s involvement and urges the Security Council to facilitate initiatives that call for an immediate ceasefire in the troubled region. The statement emphasizes the importance of the Security Council not obstructing the path to peace. Furthermore, Oman calls on friendly nations to transform their verbal support for peace into tangible and equitable humanitarian actions.
“The Sultanate of Oman continues to call on the international community and the Security Council to facilitate all initiatives calling for an immediate ceasefire in the region and for the Council not to stand in the way of peace, calling on friendly countries to translate their positions and statements calling for peace into a practical and just humanitarian reality,” the statement added.
Oman’s stance reflects its commitment to diplomatic efforts aimed at bringing about peace and stability in the Gaza Strip and underscores the Sultanate’s call for collective international action to address the humanitarian crisis in the region.
