Oman, Kuwait to strengthen bilateral relations
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman and the State of Kuwait confirmed their unwavering commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, and to opening new horizons for cooperation to achieve the aspirations of the leaderships of the two countries, as well as the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry said: ”The Omani-Kuwaiti Joint Committee held its ninth session in the city of Muscat on Saturday and Sunday corresponding to March 11 and 12, 2023, chaired by His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, and His Excellency Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al Jaber Al Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, with the participation of a number of senior officials in the two brotherly countries.”
The statement pointed out that the two sides reviewed the distinguished bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries, and expressed their great satisfaction with the high level reached by these relations in all fields, especially economic, trade and financial, and cooperation in the field of energy, transport, communications, technology, higher education, scientific research, cooperation in the field of agriculture, fisheries, labor and other fields.
The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common concern, on which their views were identical, as they affirmed their full support for all efforts and endeavors aimed at achieving stability and peace in the region and the world, and the need to resolve disputes by peaceful means, respect for the sovereignty and independence of states, and abide by the rules of international law and international covenants.
The two sides welcomed the joint tripartite statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People’s Republic of China to resume Saudi-Iranian diplomatic relations, reopen their embassies and other representations within a maximum period of two months, and to activate the security cooperation agreement between them, as well as the general agreement for cooperation in the field of economy, trade, investment, technology, science, culture, sports and youth.
Both sides stressed that this represents an important step towards enhancing security and stability in the region, as well as developing constructive cooperation and mutual benefits between its countries.
At the conclusion of the committee’s work, His Excellency Sheikh Salem Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, expressed his thanks and appreciation for the hospitality and honor he received from his brothers in the Sultanate of Oman and the accompanying delegation, and his aspiration to host the tenth session of the joint committee in the State of Kuwait.
The occasion was held in an atmosphere dominated by the spirit of brotherhood that embodies the deep historical ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Kuwait, and in light of the lofty directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and his brother His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect them both.
