Oman Launches Sixth Phase of “Eidaad” National Training Program for University Students

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, in collaboration with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), officially launched the sixth phase of the National Program for Training University Students, titled “Eidaad”, during a ceremony held at the Arab Open University in Seeb.
The event was held under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation. The “Eidaad” program is a national initiative designed to equip university students in their penultimate year of study with essential workplace skills by immersing them in real-world professional environments for an entire academic year.
Aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and market requirements, the program supports closer collaboration between Oman’s industrial and academic sectors. It provides students with hands-on experience, technical training, and exposure to labor market dynamics, thereby enhancing their employability upon graduation.
This year’s edition of “Eidaad” involves participation from 28 higher education institutions, both public and private, and is supported by 41 sponsoring companies and organizations from the industrial and private sectors. Since its inception in 2020, the program has graduated over 1,000 students.
During the launch ceremony, officials announced the establishment of an advanced career path mapping unit. The unit is intended to serve as a strategic tool for students and academic advisors by offering comprehensive insights into academic specializations and corresponding career opportunities, thereby facilitating informed career planning.
The event also witnessed the signing of 12 cooperation agreements and protocols among representatives of the industrial, private, and academic sectors. These agreements aim to solidify collaboration on student training and job market alignment. The Ministry was represented by H.E. Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, while PDO was represented by Farid bin Khalfan Al Harthy, Executive Director of Corporate Support, along with other representatives from partnering organizations.
The “Eidaad” program reaffirms Oman’s commitment to strengthening the synergy between academia and industry and ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for sustainable and impactful careers in the national workforce.
