Baku, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the inaugural joint meeting between the Arab Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) and the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), held from July 18 to 19 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

Oman’s delegation was led by Zahra bint Mohammed Redha Al Lawati, Deputy Chairperson of the State Audit Institution for Supervision of Institutions, Investments, and Companies.

The joint meeting featured visual presentations delivered by various committees including the Knowledge Building Committee, the Capacity Building Committee, the Financial and Administrative Affairs Committee, and the Institutional Development Committee. The presentations outlined the respective committees’ mandates and explored avenues for strengthening collaboration and joint efforts between ARABOSAI and ASOSAI.

Participants also exchanged experiences on critical topics such as “responding to climate change through audit work” and “the use of artificial intelligence in audit practices.” Furthermore, discussions included green infrastructure initiatives, highlighting the evolving role of audit institutions in sustainable development and environmental accountability.

Oman’s participation in the forum reaffirms its steadfast commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at strengthening oversight, transparency, and accountability. The Sultanate remains dedicated to exchanging expertise with peer institutions, thereby enhancing the financial audit framework in alignment with best practices endorsed by the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
