Oman Participates in GCC Meeting

Oman

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the inaugural meeting dedicated to discussing the national economic visions of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, held on Wednesday at the Secretariat General headquarters in Riyadh.

The meeting focused on several key issues, most notably the identification of common pillars within national visions and the adoption of a unified Gulf framework. This initiative seeks to align the targets of national economic visions with the GCC’s shared objectives, while preserving the individual priorities and policies of member states.

The Omani delegation was headed by Dr. Nasser Rashid Al Maawali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy.

The meeting was convened in line with a resolution of the Permanent Preparatory Ministerial Committee for the Economic and Development Affairs Authority at its sixth session. The resolution had called for a joint meeting of senior officials from member states to put forward recommendations on ways to maximize mutual benefit in the area of national economic visions and to establish a committee tasked with overseeing cooperation in their implementation.

The committee’s objectives include coordinating efforts to achieve integration within the GCC’s common goals, while safeguarding the distinctiveness of each national vision. It also aims to create regular dialogue platforms for specialized national bodies to exchange expertise and information on the monitoring and implementation of national visions, and to explore practical solutions for shared challenges in this field.
