Oman participates in International Conference on Development and Migration
Rome, The Gulf Observer: Oman, represented by the Foreign Ministry, took part in the International Conference on Development and Migration being held in Rome under the auspices of Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Italy.
At the beginning of his meeting with the Italian Prime Minister, Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, Head of Oman’s delegation, conveyed greetings of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik along with best wishes of success to Meloni in organizing and hosting the International Conference on Development and Migration, wishing the Italian people continuous growth and prosperity, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
On her turn, the Italian Prime Minister expressed her sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Sultan for Oman’s participation in the International Conference on Development and Migration. She also wished him and the Omani people permanent progress and welfare.
The conference aims to address the phenomenon of migration and combat human trafficking, promote economic development within the framework of multilateral cooperation and find solutions to the challenges facing many countries of the world with regard to migration, illegal movement, smuggling and trafficking of migrants. This can be realized by launching a platform for joint cooperation between all countries concerned to ensure the active participation and mutual commitment of all countries receiving and exporting migrants, as well as international organizations.
Participants in the conference explored mechanisms for strengthening legal tracks, and ways to contribute to joint development projects that serve the aspirations of all countries to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which constitute the grounds for security, stability, and economic and social progress.
