Oman Ranks Among Top Cybersecurity-Prepared Nations in 2024 GCI
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman has secured a prominent position among the world’s most prepared countries in terms of cybersecurity, according to the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) released by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Oman achieved an impressive overall score of 97.02, a rise from its 96 points in the 2020 edition, placing it among the top nations with scores ranging from 95 to 100 across five key criteria.
The GCI evaluates countries based on five standards: legal, technical, regulatory, capacity building, and international cooperation. Oman scored a perfect 19.59 points in the “international cooperation and institutional organization” category, demonstrating its commitment to global collaboration in cybersecurity. The Sultanate also excelled in the “legal” and “technical” categories, with 19.59 and 18.39 points, respectively, and performed strongly in “capacity building” with 19.03 points.
Oman’s continued focus on improving its cybersecurity infrastructure and international cooperation highlights its leadership in ensuring robust digital security on the global stage. The ITU’s GCI is recognized as a key indicator of a nation’s cybersecurity readiness and capability to address cyber threats.
