Oman to Celebrate World Seafarers’ Day
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, will celebrate World Seafarers’ Day on Monday. The event will be held under the aegis of Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary General at the Ministry of Defence.
This annual celebration is organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology to honor Oman’s rich maritime history and recognize the significant contributions of seafarers to the sector. The event underscores the Ministry’s commitment to the maritime industry’s vital economic role and its contribution to the local economy, as well as its efforts to boost employment in this field.
The ceremony will feature a speech from the Ministry, a review of the maritime sector’s achievements in Oman, and an accompanying exhibition by participating entities. The event will also include dialogue and discussion sessions, presentations of specialized working papers, and the honoring of sponsors and distinguished workers in the maritime sector.
The International Maritime Organisation has designated World Seafarers’ Day as an annual event to highlight the crucial role played by this sector globally. Oman’s celebration aligns with this international recognition, further emphasizing the country’s dedication to its maritime heritage and workforce.
