Omani Adventurer Suhaila Nasser al Kindi Conquers Mount Kilimanjaro
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Omani adventurer Suhaila Nasser al Kindi has accomplished a remarkable feat by successfully climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, reaching an elevation of 5,895 meters above sea level. Kilimanjaro, one of Africa’s most iconic natural wonders, posed a challenging seven-day trek for Suhaila and her companions.
Suhaila, accompanied by friends, embarked on her ascent on January 13, eventually reaching Stella Point, one of Mount Kilimanjaro’s three official summits, on January 17 at 8 am. During her journey, Suhaila hoisted Oman’s flag on the peak, symbolizing both her personal achievement and national pride.
Describing the climb as an “extraordinary and unforgettable journey,” Suhaila shared her long-cherished dream of conquering Kilimanjaro. She highlighted altitude sickness, with symptoms like headaches and shortness of breath, as a significant challenge. The extreme cold and fluctuating temperatures at higher altitudes also added to the difficulties. Suhaila’s daily routine involved six to seven hours of walking to reach the peak.
In preparation for this adventure, Suhaila dedicated three months to extensive training, including long walks. Known for her passion for mountain walking and commitment to a healthy lifestyle, Suhaila frequently explores various locations within Oman in pursuit of new adventures.
