Omani FM Meets Bahraini Counterpart to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Today, Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, welcomed Dr. Abdullatif Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in a significant diplomatic encounter aimed at reinforcing the longstanding Bilateral ties between Oman and Bahrain.
During the meeting, the distinguished diplomats underscored the deep-rooted historical ties that bind the two Gulf nations, reflecting on their shared heritage and common aspirations. Additionally, they delved into the agenda of the forthcoming session of the joint committee, scheduled to convene in Oman later this year, with a view to enhancing cooperation across various sectors.
Both sides expressed their mutual commitment to signing new agreements and memoranda of understanding, with the primary objective of elevating the scope and scale of their collaborative endeavors towards broader horizons of prosperity and development.
In anticipation of Bahrain’s upcoming hosting of the 33rd Arab Summit on May 16, 2024, Sayyid Badr conveyed Oman’s confidence in the success of the summit. He expressed optimism that the deliberations would yield constructive outcomes, aligned with the shared interests of the Arab nations and the aspirations of their peoples for regional security and peace. Sayyid Badr also voiced Oman’s belief that the summit would yield further achievements conducive to the prosperity of the Arab world and the advancement of joint Arab initiatives.
The ministers also engaged in a comprehensive review of regional developments, emphasizing the paramount importance of de-escalation. In this regard, they reiterated the imperative of prioritizing efforts towards achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, as part of broader endeavors to attain a just and enduring resolution to the Palestinian cause. Both ministers affirmed their commitment to the two-state solution in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The meeting was graced by the presence of Sayyid Najeeb Hilal Al Busaidi, Acting Head of the GCC and Regional Neighborhood Department, along with Dr. Juma Ahmed Al Ka’abi, Ambassador of Bahrain to Oman, and a host of officials from the Foreign Ministry, underscoring the significance attached to the discussions and the enduring bonds between Oman and Bahrain.
