Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The two-day Omani-Yemeni Forum for Facilitating Investment kicked off at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, Dhofar governorate, in a concerted effort to boost trade and investment relations between Oman and Yemen. The forum, organized by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Dhofar branch in collaboration with the Dhofar Governor’s Office, is aimed at exploring avenues to enhance investment opportunities for Yemeni investors and streamline the investment process for Yemeni companies in Oman.

Under the patronage of H H Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, and attended by Mohammed Hizam al Ashwal, Yemen’s Minister of Industry and Trade, the forum focuses on reviewing commercial laws, investment determinants, and highlighting Oman’s investment environment and promising sectors outlined in Oman Vision 2040. Key sectors discussed include manufacturing industries, agriculture, fisheries, logistics services, education, and scientific and innovative research.

The inaugural day featured an audio-visual presentation on Dhofar’s investment resources and components, along with working papers and dialogue sessions involving specialists from government and private sectors associated with trade and commerce. An accompanying exhibition was also inaugurated to showcase economic and investment opportunities.

Nayef bin Hamid Fadel, Head of OCCI’s Dhofar branch, emphasized the forum’s goal of expanding the national economy by diversifying income sources. He highlighted Oman’s advantages, encouraging the establishment of large investment projects, and emphasized the commitment to building economic and investment bridges.

Nabil Saeed Ghanem, Chairman of Yemen’s Al-Ghanem Trade and Investment Group, spoke about the potential for cooperation and investments in mining, tourism, fisheries, and logistical support. Ghanem underlined the shared history, geography, customs, traditions, and social ties between Oman and Yemen as vital factors in enhancing economic and trade relations.

The forum aims to facilitate an exchange of experiences, improve work and product quality, promote innovation and development, and contribute to the economic growth of both countries.
