Oman’s Foreign Minister Engages in High-Level Diplomatic Meetings at Indian Ocean Conference

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of Oman, conducted a series of bilateral meetings on Sunday with counterparts and officials from various countries and regional and international organizations. The discussions, held on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference hosted by Oman, focused on enhancing joint cooperation and addressing issues of mutual interest.

The meetings included Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India; Osman Saleh Mohammed, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Eritrea; Jassim bin Mohammed Al Budaiwi, GCC Secretary General; Hassan Ali Joho, Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs of Kenya; Zhai Jun, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government to the Middle East; Dr. Erywan Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam; Dhananjay Ramful, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and National Trade of Mauritius; and Youssef Mohamed Ali, Director of the Office of the President of the Union of the Comoros and Acting Minister of Defense.

Key topics discussed included strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in various sectors such as the blue economy, trade, energy, tourism, and education. Sustainable development and youth empowerment were also high on the agenda. Investment opportunities and economic partnerships were explored, with a particular focus on infrastructure development and fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Sayyid Badr and his counterparts also deliberated on regional and global challenges affecting the Indian Ocean region, including maritime security, climate change, and collective efforts to enhance regional stability. The meetings emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing common concerns and promoting cooperation.

During the discussions, Sayyid Badr reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with countries and organizations worldwide to support sustainable development, enhance stability, and unlock new avenues of collaboration for the mutual benefit of all parties involved.
