Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman, received a phone call on Monday from David Lammy, the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom.
During their conversation, the two ministers reviewed the historical and strategic relations between Oman and the UK, expressing a strong commitment to further develop economic interests, particularly in the energy sector, including renewable energy. They also discussed cooperation in security and defense.
The ministers exchanged views on regional developments, emphasizing the urgent need to intensify both regional and international efforts to halt military escalations and prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian situation.
Both sides expressed grave concern over the rising number of civilian casualties in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the increasing risks to the region’s stability.
Sayyid Badr and Secretary Lammy underscored the importance of collective action within the framework of the international community’s responsibilities to achieve a comprehensive and just political solution to the Palestinian cause, which they identified as essential for security and stability in the region.
They reiterated the necessity of opening urgent and safe humanitarian corridors for relief supplies to the Gaza Strip, supporting and empowering the Palestinian National Authority, and resuming full international assistance for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
