Oman’s Foreign Minister Holds Meetings with Ambassadors to Discuss Regional Tensions

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held two separate meetings on Sunday evening with ambassadors of several sisterly and friendly countries accredited to the Sultanate of Oman to discuss recent regional developments.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the first meeting brought together ambassadors of European countries in Oman that are not members of the European Union, along with the ambassadors of the United States, Brazil and Türkiye. The second meeting included ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries as well as the ambassadors of Iraq, Jordan and Egypt.
The discussions focused on developments related to the Israeli and American war against Iran and the potential repercussions of the conflict on the region and the wider international community.
During the meetings, Sayyid Badr emphasized the urgent need to prioritize sustained political and diplomatic efforts aimed at stopping the war, containing its consequences and addressing the challenges it poses to regional security, stability and the safety of civilians.
He noted that the current situation requires broader regional and international cooperation, stressing that ending the war should be regarded as a supreme national and regional interest for all parties involved.
The ambassadors present at the meetings expressed appreciation for Oman’s diplomatic efforts, particularly its mediation role and ongoing humanitarian initiatives. They also commended the Sultanate for facilitating the transit and travel of citizens from various countries through Oman’s territory and airports during the ongoing crisis.
The meetings were attended by several senior officials from the Omani Foreign Ministry, including Ambassador Sheikh Abdulaziz Alhinai, Ambassador-at-large; Sheikh Khalid Almuslahi, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed Almaskari, Head of the Department for the GCC and Region; Ambassador Munther Almandhari, Head of the Europe Department; Ambassador Sheikh Faisal Almarhoon, Head of the Arab Department; and Ambassador Dr Hanan Alshihhiya, Head of the Americas Department.
