Oman's Foreign Minister Receives Ukrainian Counterpart for Diplomatic Talks

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, yesterday welcomed Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, during his first official visit to Muscat. The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The two foreign ministers held extensive political consultations, exchanging views on a range of regional and international issues, including the ongoing Ukraine-Russia crisis. Both sides reiterated their commitment to seeking a just and comprehensive resolution to the conflict, grounded in international law, and focused on ending the suffering of affected populations.

In addition, discussions touched on the escalating violence in Gaza and Lebanon. The ministers jointly called for an immediate ceasefire, urging an end to the policy of escalation and a return to peaceful dialogue. They emphasized the critical need to respect international law, lift the blockade on Gaza, and secure the release of all hostages.

The talks also explored opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas such as economic development, cultural exchange, scientific collaboration, and technology transfer. Specific sectors of mutual interest included transport, logistics, and renewable energy, which offer significant potential for future partnerships.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, Dr. Maksym Subkh, Ukraine’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, along with senior officials from both nations.

This diplomatic engagement underscores Oman’s ongoing efforts to promote peaceful dialogue and cooperation at a time of increasing global and regional tensions.
