Pakistan, Ethiopia Explore Maritime Cooperation to Boost Trade and Connectivity

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have explored prospects for enhanced maritime cooperation aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and expanding bilateral trade.

The discussion took place during a meeting between Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba, Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan, and Muhammad Junaid Anwar, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, in Islamabad.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to promote institutional collaboration by facilitating the exchange of delegations and sharing technical expertise in the maritime sector. The initiative is expected to further enhance trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.

Ambassador Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba briefed the Federal Minister on Ethiopia’s homegrown economic reforms, highlighting the country’s strategic significance and its growing connectivity with regional and global markets. He underscored Ethiopia’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding relations with Pakistan, noting that increased maritime cooperation would play a pivotal role in advancing bilateral economic ties.

Minister Muhammad Junaid Anwar reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for expanding cooperation in the maritime domain. He reiterated the government’s commitment to deepening engagement with African nations, including Ethiopia, with a focus on fostering sustainable trade partnerships and regional integration.
