PM Chính Calls for Strong, Innovative Workforce to Boost Việtnam’s External Information Service

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has called for building a resilient, intelligent, creative, responsible, dedicated and forward-looking workforce for Việtnam’s external information service, committed to promoting positive values while proactively addressing negative narratives.
Addressing the 11th National External Information Service Awards Ceremony in Hànội on Friday evening, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to officials and practitioners working in external information at home and abroad for their tireless efforts in projecting a vibrant and authentic image of Việtnam and its people to the world. He underscored the strategic importance of external information work, noting that it is closely guided and prioritised by the Party and the State.
PM Chính said the external information service has actively amplified Việtnam’s independent, self-reliant and principled voice on the international stage, helping to promote the image of a stable, dynamic, responsible, trustworthy, distinctive and friendly nation. These efforts, he noted, have enabled the international community to gain a deeper and more accurate understanding of Việtnam’s spirit, resilience and people, thereby strengthening relations with other countries and international partners and creating favourable conditions for national development.
Reviewing the history of the Awards, the Prime Minister said that over its 11 editions, the event has built a strong reputation, growing stature and wide-reaching influence. He highlighted this year’s Awards for their modern, multi-format approach with strong application of digital media; broad participation from government bodies, the press, organisations, businesses and researchers; and themes closely aligned with major national events and policy directions.
He also praised the higher quality of submissions, which reflected creativity and meticulous effort, as well as foreign contributions that offered fresh perspectives and in-depth insights into Việt Nam. The Prime Minister commended the organising agencies for the successful coordination of the Awards and congratulated the outstanding winners for their important contributions to the country’s external information service.
Emphasising that alongside defence and security, foreign affairs remain a key and ongoing task in safeguarding the nation and promoting rapid and sustainable development, PM Chính stressed that external information work constitutes a vital component of Việt Nam’s soft power.
He called for closer alignment of external information activities with the Party’s and State’s foreign policy, with a focus on projecting a confident, self-reliant and dynamic Việtnam that actively contributes to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world. He urged innovative and strategic approaches, with well-structured, engaging and multimedia-rich content, and encouraged greater use of digital technologies, social media, artificial intelligence and big data to better reach and serve both international and domestic audiences.
The Prime Minister also underlined the importance of harnessing the combined strength of the entire political system, ensuring effective coordination among ministries, localities, the domestic press and international media, while building a practical and efficient external information network.
Expressing his confidence in the future of the Awards, PM Chính said the initiative would continue to inspire and motivate practitioners to fully apply their talent, intellect, dedication, creativity and sense of responsibility, making increasingly practical and effective contributions to national development and defence in the new era.
Jointly organised by the Steering Committee for External Information Service, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation, and Vietnam Television, this year’s Awards attracted 2,412 entries across eight categories, including Vietnamese-language and foreign-language newspapers and magazines, radio, television, books, photography, digital and multimedia products, as well as initiatives or works with significant external information value.
At the ceremony, PM Chính, together with Party and State leaders and representatives of ministries and agencies, presented eight first prizes, 16 second prizes, 24 third prizes and 40 consolation prizes to outstanding works and authors. The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reaffirmed its position as a leading external information agency, winning three first prizes, two second prizes, two third prizes and three consolation prizes.
