Pope Francis and Iranian Scholar Advocate for Global Peace and Justice

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church, has reiterated his commitment to fostering peace and friendship across the world, emphasizing the importance of respecting human rights and freedoms.

During a meeting on Friday with Abolhassan Navab, the Founder of the University of Religions and Denominations, Pope Francis stressed that all human beings are inherently respected and possess inviolable rights. “No one should violate human rights or restrict freedom,” the Pope said.

Highlighting the divine gift of freedom, Pope Francis remarked, “God created humans free; but today there are those who seek to enslave humanity to serve their own goals.”

Vatican-Israel Relations and Regional Concerns

Pope Francis also acknowledged existing challenges in Vatican-Israel relations. While affirming the Vatican’s lack of animosity toward the Jewish people, he expressed concerns about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “Our only problem is with Benjamin Netanyahu, who, disregarding international laws and human rights, has created crises in the region and the world,” the Pope stated.

Iran’s Call for Global Peace and Justice

Abolhassan Navab conveyed Iran’s readiness to support efforts aimed at spreading peace and justice globally. “The Iranian government and people are always prepared to extend a hand of cooperation to those working towards these noble goals,” Navab said.

He also lauded Pope Francis for his unwavering support for the oppressed, particularly the Palestinian people. “The courageous positions of His Holiness Pope Francis in defending the oppressed and homeless Palestinians are deeply commendable. Religious leaders have consistently stood with the people, serving as the voice of human suffering,” Navab noted.

The meeting underscored a shared commitment to addressing global challenges, promoting justice, and supporting vulnerable populations through interfaith dialogue and cooperation.
