Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a series of high-level telephone conversations with prominent world leaders on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, underscoring Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting unity across the Islamic world, an official statement said.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed on Monday that President Subianto reached out to several key counterparts, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“These engagements are part of the President’s efforts to maintain close relations and accelerate international cooperation, particularly during the meaningful occasion of Eid al-Fitr,” Wijaya stated.

The diplomatic outreach also extended to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, King Abdullah II of Jordan, and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

Wijaya described the interactions as a reflection of the “enduring brotherhood” between Indonesia and fellow Muslim-majority nations, highlighting the importance of solidarity and mutual cooperation.

The series of calls followed President Subianto’s active holiday schedule, which included spending the final night of Ramadan in Medan, offering Eid prayers in Aceh, and hosting a traditional public “open house” at the State Palace in Jakarta.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Presidential Secretariat emphasized that these engagements reinforce Indonesia’s role as a bridge for global unity and dialogue within the Muslim world.

As the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country, Indonesia continues to amplify messages of peace, cooperation, and hope. The Secretariat noted that Eid al-Fitr serves not only as a religious celebration but also as a strategic opportunity for diplomacy.

“Beyond a celebration, Eid al-Fitr provides a strategic space for diplomacy and symbolizes Indonesia’s steadfast commitment to fostering global stability,” the statement concluded.
