Prabowo Inaugurates Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Campus of Indonesia Defense University in Bogor

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, officially inaugurated the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Campus of the Indonesia Defense University (Universitas Pertahanan/Unhan) in Citeureup, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday.
“This afternoon, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby inaugurate the Unhan Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Campus,” the President declared during the ceremony, which was broadcast via the Presidential Secretariat’s official YouTube channel.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including the sixth President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), and Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. President Prabowo extended his appreciation to SBY, recognizing him as the founder of the university and commending his foresight in establishing a strategic institution dedicated to national defense and leadership development.
In his remarks, President Prabowo emphasized that the university embodies a long-term national vision to cultivate future leaders who are not only proficient in defense matters but also actively contribute to broader aspects of national development.
He underscored the critical importance of mastering science and technology as the foundation for national progress and poverty alleviation. “Without excellence in science and technology, it is impossible for a nation to rise and eliminate poverty,” he asserted.
President Prabowo also called for the establishment of a vibrant and forward-thinking academic culture at the university—one that promotes patriotism, humility, and courage in leadership. He highlighted that strong leaders must have the integrity to acknowledge their weaknesses and the resolve to overcome them. “That is the characteristic of a good leader. Never be afraid of challenges, never be afraid to admit our shortcomings. Acknowledging our weaknesses means we are ready to overcome them,” he said.
The new campus spans 18.3 hectares and is equipped with modern infrastructure, including academic buildings, science laboratories, male and female dormitories, a comprehensive water management system, a rectorate building, a library, office spaces, a contemporary dining facility, green open spaces, a retention pond, and dedicated housing for faculty members.
The development of the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Campus represents a strategic step in the national agenda to enhance nation-building and improve the quality of human resources, aligning with Indonesia’s broader goals of sustainable development and security.
