Prabowo Orders Acceleration of Government Programs

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto has directed his ministers to fast-track the execution of government programs by removing bureaucratic barriers, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan said on Tuesday.

Speaking after a limited cabinet meeting with the President and several ministers at the Presidential Palace, Hasan outlined that food security remains a top agenda, with emphasis on optimizing existing agricultural land and developing new rice fields.

“These efforts include projects in Wanam Village, Papua; South Sumatra; and Central Kalimantan. In Wanam, the road has already been built, and the port is nearly complete. We will finalize the spatial planning soon,” Hasan said.

He further noted that the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is preparing to establish fishponds covering 20,000 hectares this year as part of the national food strategy.

Beyond food-related initiatives, the government will also speed up the implementation of the Red and White Village Cooperatives program and the Red and White Fishing Villages program, targeting 100 villages for rollout this year.

Launched in July, the Red and White Village Cooperatives scheme envisions around 80,000 cooperatives nationwide to serve as hubs for economic and social services, providing savings, loans, healthcare clinics, and other community facilities.

Meanwhile, the Red and White Fishing Villages program seeks to enhance the productivity and welfare of coastal communities. A total of 1,100 fishing villages are planned for revitalization in phases, with infrastructure development including piers, cold storage facilities, and training centers.

Hasan stressed that the President’s directive underscores the government’s commitment to swiftly deliver tangible results for the people through both food security measures and community-based economic empowerment programs.
