President Erdogan Calls President Ilham Aliyev to Congratulate on Election Victory
Baku, The Gulf Observer: On September 2, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a phone call to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to extend his heartfelt congratulations on the resounding victory of the New Azerbaijan Party in the recent parliamentary elections. According to the NHC, President Erdogan highlighted the historic nature of these elections, being the first to take place across Azerbaijan’s entire territory following the full restoration of the country’s sovereignty.
President Erdogan praised the elections as having been conducted in a free, open, and democratic environment, reflecting the genuine will of the Azerbaijani people. He emphasized the importance of this milestone in Azerbaijan’s democratic journey and reaffirmed Türkiye’s strong support for its close ally.
President Aliyev expressed his gratitude to President Erdogan for his warm congratulations and for Türkiye’s ongoing support.
The two leaders also discussed the critical role of interparliamentary ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. They underscored the significance of regular reciprocal visits by parliamentary delegations and noted the extensive participation of members from the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s interparliamentary friendship group as observers during the elections in Azerbaijan.
In their conversation, Presidents Erdogan and Aliyev reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the brotherhood and strategic alliance between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, reflecting the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.
