President Erdogan Highlights Türkiye’s Growing Role in Global Peace Diplomacy

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye has emerged as a key international actor in peace diplomacy, global humanitarian aid, and conflict mediation, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated following a Cabinet meeting held Monday in the capital, Ankara.

“Earlier, we spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and last week, we discussed the issue of Ukraine with U.S. President Donald Trump, exploring steps to end the bloodshed,” Erdogan said. “We support my dear friend President Trump’s resolve to resolve global conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.”

He emphasized that Türkiye is now a sought-after partner for peace efforts and is recognized globally for its role in providing aid, support, and facilitating negotiations.

Regarding the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, now entering its fourth year, Erdogan reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to contributing to peace efforts. He noted that Türkiye, “trusted by all sides,” is ready to support and host the upcoming peace talks between Russia and Ukraine set to take place Thursday in Istanbul.

“Recent diplomatic engagements in the conflict have created new opportunities,” he said, expressing hope that these chances will not be missed by the involved parties.

President Erdogan also commented on South Asian tensions, welcoming the recently declared ceasefire between Pakistan and India, and calling on both nations to refrain from provocation and maintain dialogue.

In a significant development concerning Türkiye’s national security, Erdogan responded to the announcement by the terrorist group PKK that it is dissolving and disarming. He described the move as an “important step toward ensuring the country’s security, regional peace, and long-term national unity.”

“We regard the PKK’s declaration as encompassing all its branches, including those operating in northern Iraq, Syria, and Europe,” Erdogan stated, affirming that the government will continue to monitor developments closely and prioritize national interests.
