President Erdoğan Reaffirms Türkiye’s Support for Efforts to End Genocide in Gaza

Rize, The Gulf Observer: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Saturday reaffirmed Türkiye’s unwavering support for any initiative aimed at halting Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza, expressing hope that recent ceasefire efforts will pave the way for lasting peace and stability in the region.

“We fully support any project that will permanently stop the massacre and genocide that has been happening in Gaza for two years,” Erdoğan said in an address in the Black Sea city of Rize, his ancestral hometown.

The president voiced optimism that the new ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas would serve as a foundation for enduring peace, calm, and security in Gaza and other Palestinian territories. He also called on Israel to honor its commitments under the ceasefire agreement and to end its aggressive policies that endanger regional stability and civilian lives.

Erdoğan commended the constructive role played by U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as the leaders of Egypt and Qatar, describing them as “brotherly nations” whose support has been vital in facilitating the negotiations.

“Let me say this clearly and openly,” Erdoğan declared. “Türkiye — and do not forget this — is much greater than Türkiye itself. Türkiye is not a country whose vision can be confined to its 783,000 square kilometers. The reputation, power, influence, and weight of Türkiye’s word go far beyond its economy, population, and geography.”

The president praised the wise and determined stance of the Palestinian people, particularly Hamas, noting their readiness for peace and the active support shown by other Muslim countries in the region.

“After two years of oppression, genocide, destruction, and brutality, for the first time, even if with a heavy heart, we are seeing smiles return to the faces in Gaza,” he said.

Emphasizing the importance of humanitarian efforts and peace initiatives, Erdoğan stated: “No matter what anyone says, every effort, every signature, every step that brings joy to the oppressed and afflicted in Gaza is valuable to us.”

Reiterating Türkiye’s long-standing position on the Palestinian issue, Erdoğan stressed that a two-state solution remains the cornerstone of sustainable peace in the Middle East.

“A two-state solution is the key to lasting peace in our region,” he said. “We believe that the two-state solution, with distinct and separate foundations, is the most beneficial path for all people in the region — Muslims, Christians, and Jewish people alike.”
