President Ilham Aliyev Commissions "Zangilan" Tanker at Baku Shipyard

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, participated in the commissioning ceremony of the “Zangilan” tanker, as reported by media sources.

The ceremony took place at the Baku Shipyard, where Chairman of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Closed Joint-Stock Company, Rauf Valiyev, briefed President Aliyev on the specifications of the newly constructed tanker. Named “Zangilan,” the tanker boasts a carrying capacity of 7,875 tons, measuring 141 meters in length and 16.9 meters in width. It will operate with a permanent crew of 15 personnel.

This marks the fourth tanker produced at the Baku Shipyard, underscoring Azerbaijan’s commitment to enhancing its maritime infrastructure and capabilities.

President Aliyev was also briefed by Chairman of the Board of Baku Shipyard LLC, Elshad Nuriyev, on the facility’s ongoing operations and strategic contributions to the nation’s maritime sector.

In a symbolic gesture, President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon, officially commissioning the “Zangilan” tanker and highlighting Azerbaijan’s continued progress in maritime technology and industry.
