President Ilham Aliyev Congratulates Azerbaijani Journalists on National Press Day

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev extended his congratulations to media professionals across the country on the occasion of National Press Day, marked annually on July 22.
In a message shared on his official social media accounts, the Head of State commended the growth and increasing credibility of Azerbaijani media, both domestically and internationally.
The post reads:
“I congratulate you and your colleagues on the anniversary. I am very pleased with the development of Azerbaijani media. I am truly glad that today our media has earned great credibility not only domestically, but also internationally.”
The message was dated July 19, 2025, from Khankendi, where President Aliyev participated in the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum, a prominent event that gathered local and international media figures to discuss global communication trends, journalistic integrity, and media freedom.
National Press Day commemorates the publication of “Əkinçi”, the first Azerbaijani-language newspaper, founded by Hasan bey Zardabi in 1875. The occasion serves as a tribute to the nation’s media heritage and the essential role of journalists in shaping public discourse and promoting transparency.
