President Ilham Aliyev Meets with New Development Bank President Dilma Rousseff
Kazan, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank (NDB), which was established by BRICS member states, to discuss potential areas of cooperation. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the BRICS summit, NHC reports.
During the meeting, Dilma Rousseff expressed her pleasure at Azerbaijan’s upcoming role as host of the COP29 conference, set to be held in Baku. She emphasized the growing importance of climate finance in the agendas of international financial institutions and highlighted the significance of COP29 from this perspective.
Both leaders discussed opportunities for collaboration, focusing on areas of mutual interest, including environmental sustainability and economic development. President Aliyev underscored Azerbaijan’s commitment to advancing global climate initiatives and the importance of international partnerships in addressing climate change.
The meeting served as a platform for exploring how the NDB and Azerbaijan can work together to further these objectives, particularly in the context of COP29 and beyond.
