President Ilham Aliyev Pays Tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and their daughter Leyla Aliyeva visited the Alley of Honors on Friday to commemorate National Leader Heydar Aliyev on the 22nd anniversary of his passing. Heydar Aliyev is widely regarded as the architect of modern, independent Azerbaijan and a globally respected statesman.

President Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath at the late leader’s grave, followed by the playing of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan.

The President, the First Lady, and Leyla Aliyeva also placed flowers at the grave of Zarifa Aliyeva, the National Leader’s wife and an esteemed ophthalmologist and academician.

In addition, the family paid their respects to prominent statesman Aziz Aliyev and professor Tamerlan Aliyev, placing flowers at their graves.
