President Ilham Aliyev Receives Pakistani Parliamentary Delegation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a high-level parliamentary delegation from Pakistan on July 7, led by Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. The meeting underscored the strong and brotherly ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, rooted in mutual support, solidarity, and a shared vision for expanded cooperation.

President Aliyev hailed the excellent level of political relations between the two countries, emphasizing the foundation of trust and fraternity that continues to guide bilateral engagement. He warmly recalled the recent visit of Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit in Khankendi and their productive discussions on the bilateral agenda. The Azerbaijani leader also noted the Prime Minister’s earlier visit to Lachin and his participation in the Independence Day celebrations of Azerbaijan.

Highlighting the growing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan in politics, the economy, and investment, President Aliyev emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary collaboration. He welcomed the mutual support extended by both nations’ parliamentary delegations within international parliamentary forums and expressed confidence that the current visit would further advance bilateral ties.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, stated it was an honor for the delegation to visit Azerbaijan and meet with the President. He underscored that the delegation comprises members of both Pakistan’s ruling party and opposition, reflecting a unified national stance in support of Azerbaijan.

He praised the organization of the ECO Summit in Khankendi, describing it as a politically significant gesture, and commended Azerbaijan’s ongoing reconstruction and development efforts in Karabakh and East Zangezur.

The meeting served as an opportunity to discuss the strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations and cooperation between the legislative bodies of both countries. Discussions also covered potential collaboration in key areas such as the economy, trade, energy, industry, investment, transport, and tourism.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic ties and enhancing people-to-people and institutional linkages across various sectors.
