President Ilham Aliyev Receives Turkish Defense Minister, Hails Dissolution of PKK as Historic Victory

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Yaşar Güler, Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Türkiye, for a high-level meeting in Baku on Monday.

President Aliyev extended his heartfelt congratulations to Türkiye on the dissolution of the PKK terrorist organization, describing the development as a historic achievement. He emphasized that this milestone brings great satisfaction to Azerbaijan, given the shared commitment to regional peace and stability.

The Azerbaijani leader noted that the decisive political will of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan played a pivotal role in this outcome. He also highlighted the importance of the strength of the Turkish state, the professional operations of its armed forces, and the unity of Turkish society as critical factors that compelled the terrorist group to take this step.

“This development holds significance not only for Türkiye but for the entire region,” President Aliyev stated, expressing optimism that it would pave the way for broader peace and security across neighboring countries.

In response, Minister Yaşar Güler expressed gratitude for the congratulatory remarks and conveyed the personal greetings of President Erdoğan to the Azerbaijani leader. President Aliyev warmly reciprocated and asked Minister Güler to extend his own regards to the Turkish President.

Recalling shared struggles, Minister Güler noted that Armenian terrorists had also faced a historic reckoning due to the firm leadership of President Aliyev. He underlined that Türkiye had concluded its 41-year struggle against terrorism with a resounding victory and expressed confidence that this success would greatly contribute to lasting peace both in Türkiye and the region.

The Turkish Defense Minister reaffirmed Türkiye’s readiness to further deepen military cooperation with the Armed Forces of brotherly Azerbaijan. Both sides praised the effective collaboration between their respective militaries, particularly the successful joint exercises conducted in recent years.

The meeting concluded with expressions of strong confidence in the continued development of brotherly and allied ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. The leaders emphasized that the close relationship between Presidents Aliyev and Erdoğan remains a cornerstone of the growing partnership, particularly in the military sphere.

The two sides also exchanged views on the future prospects for cooperation, reaffirming their commitment to strategic unity and shared regional objectives.
