President Ilham Aliyev Signs Order Establishing Akhar-Bakhar and Ilisu National Parks

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has signed an official Order establishing two new national parks—Akhar-Bakhar and Ilisu—aimed at preserving the country’s natural heritage and enhancing its ecological framework.
According to the presidential decree, Akhar-Bakhar National Park will be created on a total area of 23,901.99 hectares, with land contributions as follows:
- 11,113.46 hectares from the State Reserve Fund of the Samukh district,
- 7,000.10 hectares from the Yevlakh district, and
- 5,788.43 hectares from the Gakh district.
Simultaneously, Ilisu National Park will be established on an area of 13,966.0 hectares, comprising:
- 206.74 hectares from the State Reserve Fund of the Zagatala district, and
- 13,759.26 hectares from the Gakh district.
The establishment of these parks reflects Azerbaijan’s continued commitment to environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable land management. These national parks are expected to play a key role in safeguarding ecosystems, supporting scientific research, and promoting eco-tourism in the region.
