President Joko Widodo Hosts Chinese VP Han Zheng at Merdeka Palace

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) welcomed Chinese Vice President Han Zheng at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Saturday evening. Vice President Han was greeted by President Widodo and Minister of State Secretariat Pratikno upon his arrival.

Following the official reception, Vice President Han signed the guestbook in the presence of President Widodo. The two leaders then held a discussion in the Jepara Room of the Merdeka Palace, where they engaged in talks aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between Indonesia and China.

Vice President Han is in Jakarta to attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, scheduled to take place at the Parliamentary Complex in Central Jakarta on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

In addition to Vice President Han, several other dignitaries from Indonesia’s partner nations have arrived in the country to participate in the historic event. Among the prominent guests are Vanuatu Prime Minister Charlot Tabimasmas, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam, Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Laos Vice President Pany Yathotou, Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, and Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah.

The inauguration marks a significant moment in Indonesia’s political history, drawing global attention and participation from high-level officials and leaders from across the world.
