President Jokowi Attends 2024 Annual Session of the MPR in Jakarta
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana arrived at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Friday morning to participate in the 2024 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR). The arrival of the President was marked by a ceremonial welcome, featuring a marching band, and was greeted by MPR Speaker Bambang Soesatyo, House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani, and Regional Representative Council (DPD) Speaker La Nyalla Mattalitti.
The event includes the MPR Annual Session, a Joint Session of the DPR and DPD, and the Opening of the Plenary Session of the First Session of the House for the 2024-2025 sitting period.
During the MPR session, President Jokowi is scheduled to deliver a report on the performance of state institutions and a state address in commemoration of the 79th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day. This significant speech will reflect on the nation’s achievements and challenges, setting the tone for the country’s future direction.
In the subsequent Plenary Session, President Jokowi will present the government’s note on the Draft State Budget for Fiscal Year 2025, accompanied by its Financial Note, providing insights into the government’s fiscal policies and priorities for the coming year.
This year’s MPR annual session is themed “Nusantara Baru, Indonesia Maju” or “New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia.” The theme underscores the nation’s vision for progress, highlighting key initiatives such as the relocation of the capital to Nusantara and the broader goal of advancing Indonesia on the global stage.
The session is expected to lay out the government’s strategic plans and reaffirm its commitment to driving national development as Indonesia approaches its 79th year of independence.
