President Jokowi Calls for National Unity and Optimism Amid Global Uncertainties
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo, popularly known as Jokowi, urged the nation to unite and adopt a positive, optimistic mindset in the face of growing global challenges. Speaking at the Kompas 100 CEO Forum, held at the Garuda Palace in the new capital Nusantara, East Kalimantan, on Friday, the President emphasized the need for national consolidation during this time of uncertainty.
“It is time for our nation to consolidate. Everyone must be united because today, nearly all countries are facing uncertainties. Everything is uncertain,” President Widodo stated, addressing an audience of CEOs, government officials, academics, and members of the public.
The President highlighted the importance of collective unity to navigate the complex global landscape. He pointed out that while Indonesia’s economic growth is projected to be around 2.7 to 2.8 percent next year, the nation’s average growth over the past decade has consistently exceeded 5 percent, a positive indicator that should inspire gratitude.
“These are things we should be grateful for,” Jokowi emphasized, underscoring the country’s resilience amid global economic fluctuations.
Jokowi also called attention to the rise of pessimism in public discourse, noting that negative outlooks tend to garner more attention. However, he stressed the need for the nation to cultivate optimism and move away from a culture of negativity.
“What we need now is to strengthen positive and optimistic thinking. Unfortunately, what currently sells is pessimism and negativity,” he remarked.
The President’s address at the forum is seen as a rallying call for Indonesians to unite, remain hopeful, and focus on the nation’s continued growth and stability, despite the uncertainties looming on the global horizon.
