President Jokowi Chairs 10th World Water Forum High-Level Meeting in Bali
Bali, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) presided over the 10th World Water Forum High-Level Meeting at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC) in Nusa Dua, Bali. The event, which is the world’s largest water forum, commenced its third day on Monday with a gathering of heads of state at the BICC.
According to the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) in Bali, President Jokowi welcomed the heads of state at approximately 8:30 a.m. local time, followed by the opening ceremony in BICC’s Mangapura Hall at 8:55 a.m. local time. Subsequently, at 9:45 a.m. local time, President Jokowi initiated discussions on global water and sanitation issues in the Nusantara Hall of the BICC.
The meeting was attended by prominent leaders, including Prime Minister of Tajikistan Qohir Rasulzoda, President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of Fiji Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia Haji Fadillah Bin Haji Yusof, and Deputy Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea John Rosso. Other notable attendees included World Water Council (WWC) President Loïc Fauchon, United Nations (UN) General Assembly President Dennis Francis, former Hungarian President Janos Ader, French special envoy Barbara Pompili, and Dutch special envoy Meike van Ginneken.
The day’s agenda also included the opening of the 10th World Water Forum fair and expo at 1 p.m. local time, followed by a Parliamentary Meeting at 1:50 p.m. local time at Pecatu 3 and 5, Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC). This meeting featured Puan Maharani, Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Later in the afternoon, at 3:30 p.m. local time, the heads of state, delegates, and World Water Forum participants visited the mangrove area of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Forest Park (Tahura). The day concluded with a Cultural Parade at the Bali Collection at 4:30 p.m. local time.
On the previous evening, Sunday, May 19, leaders and delegates were treated to a welcoming dinner at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park (GWK) in Bali, showcasing Indonesian culture through traditional attire, music, dance performances, and a specially curated dinner menu.
