President Jokowi to Highlight EVs and Digital Transformation at ASEAN-Australia Special Summit

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has revealed his intention to bring discussions on electric vehicles (EVs) and digital transformation to the forefront during his participation in the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit from March 4 to March 6 in Melbourne.

Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta before his departure, President Jokowi expressed the significance of various topics to be addressed during the summit, with a particular emphasis on enhancing cooperation in the field of electric vehicles. “We will push for the immediate establishment and implementation of such cooperation. In addition, we will draw attention to matters related to digital transformation,” he remarked.

The president highlighted his planned meeting with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia to discuss defense cooperation between Indonesia and Australia. “Yes, that (defense cooperation) will be among the topics we will discuss,” President Jokowi confirmed, emphasizing the importance of fostering strong defense ties between the two nations.

President Jokowi also shared his intention to invite countries participating in the special summit to invest in Indonesia’s future capital city, Nusantara, which is currently under development in East Kalimantan Province. “In every meeting with prime ministers, presidents, and other leaders, I have always extended invitations to invest in Nusantara,” he underlined.

The discussions on electric vehicles and digital transformation align with Indonesia’s commitment to embracing innovative technologies and sustainable practices. President Jokowi aims to leverage the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit as a platform to strengthen regional cooperation and explore opportunities for collaboration in key sectors that drive economic growth and development.
