President Mirziyoyev Bolsters Jewelry and Manufacturing Industry During Namangan Region Visit

Namangan, The Gulf Observer: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a significant visit to the Namangan region on March 25, 2024, aimed at bolstering the burgeoning jewelry and manufacturing sectors within Uzbekistan. His itinerary included a notable stop at the Gavkhar Group in the Yangi Namangan district, where the President witnessed firsthand the transformative strides made in the realm of jewelry production.
The Gavkhar Group, nestled in the heart of Namangan, stands as a beacon of innovation and revitalization within Uzbekistan’s rich tradition of jewelry craftsmanship. With the capacity to industrially produce an impressive 1,200 kilograms of jewelry annually, the company embodies the fusion of heritage and modernity.
Uzbekistan’s jewelry legacy, steeped in ancient traditions passed down through generations, faced challenges stemming from inadequate conditions and raw material procurement hurdles. However, the landscape shifted dramatically with the Presidential Decree of May 18, 2019, which propelled the jewelry industry into a new era of growth and opportunity.
Under this decree, jewelers gained unprecedented access to scrap precious metals, stones, and products, alongside support mechanisms for technology infusion and foreign expertise. This infusion of resources and attention birthed enterprises like Gavkhar Group LLC, which harnessed cutting-edge equipment from global hubs like Türkiye, Italy, the United States, and Germany to commence operations in 2022.
Today, the Gavkhar Group boasts a diverse portfolio of 10,000 jewelry varieties, including collaborations for high-quality gold watch cases. In 2023 alone, the company manufactured an impressive 270 kilograms of jewelry, alongside offering custom-made pieces via advanced 3D modeling techniques.
Central to its success is the strategic procurement of gold through commodity exchanges, ensuring robust working capital and seamless production. Moreover, by fostering alliances with local artisans, Gavkhar Group has formalized informal sectors, creating over 100 employment opportunities and nurturing the next generation of craftsmen.
During his visit, President Mirziyoyev underscored the pivotal role of the jewelry industry in Uzbekistan’s economic landscape, emphasizing its untapped potential in processing the nation’s abundant gold resources. Engagements with Turkish business delegates further underscored collaborative opportunities and legislative enhancements to fortify the sector’s growth trajectory.
Additionally, the President toured Mekhmash LLC, a manufacturing powerhouse producing 20 thousand tons of screws and 18 thousand tons of rolled paper annually. Recognizing its export prowess and employment generation, President Mirziyoyev issued directives to amplify production, particularly in automotive fasteners, thus augmenting both output and job opportunities.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Namangan serves as a testament to Uzbekistan’s unwavering commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and industrial resilience. As the nation charts a course towards economic prosperity, its jewelry and manufacturing sectors stand poised to play pivotal roles in this transformative journey.
