President Mirziyoyev Meets with ACWA Power Chairman
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan met with Muhammad Abunayyan, Co-Chairman of the Uzbek-Saudi Business Council and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACWA Power. The meeting focused on further expanding practical cooperation with leading Saudi Arabian companies and assessing the progress of joint investment projects.
President Mirziyoyev expressed satisfaction with the high level of partnership achieved with ACWA Power, acknowledging the company’s pivotal role in the development of Uzbekistan’s energy market. Currently, the joint portfolio of existing and prospective projects between Uzbekistan and ACWA Power exceeds US$17 billion.
The President highlighted the importance of continuing efforts to attract new Saudi companies to Uzbekistan through the activities of the Business Council. Special emphasis was placed on accelerating the implementation of joint projects in various sectors, including:
- Construction and Management of Airports: Enhancing the country’s aviation infrastructure.
- Modernization of Digital and Energy Infrastructure: Advancing technological and energy systems.
- Expansion of Heat Supply Networks and Waste Processing: Improving utilities and sustainability practices.
- Pharmaceutical Production and Oncology Clinics: Developing healthcare facilities and medical production.
- Establishment of a Tourist Center and Textile Cluster: Boosting tourism and textile industries.
- Development of Greenhouse Farming and Animal Husbandry: Promoting agricultural innovation and productivity.
The meeting underscored the mutual commitment to strengthening the Uzbek-Saudi partnership, aiming to foster economic growth and development across various sectors in Uzbekistan.
